The First Christmas
Directed by David L. Cunningham and presented by Kevin Costner, “The First Christmas” revisits the journey of Mary and Joseph surrounding the birth of Jesus. Blending expert interviews with dramatic re-enactments, the documentary brings new visual and thematic depth to this timeless narrative — from personal faith and humility to the resilience of ordinary people placed at the centre of an extraordinary story.
A key part of the production was filmed at Atlas Studios Ouarzazate, where the studio backlot provided an authentic and atmospheric setting for the biblical world. Our team delivered local production services, supporting the international producers with locations, logistics, crew coordination, and on-ground execution.
Our Moroccan departments : including cinematography, production, and art direction, played a central role in shaping the visual identity of the re-enactments. The documentary stands as a strong example of effective international co-production between the United States and Morocco, bringing together global creative leadership and highly skilled local teams.
The studio’s provided a visually stunning backdrop for the ancient Egyptian setting.
Our local crew included the cinematography, production and art departments which allowed for a cost-effective international co-production between France and Morocco
